A Dream, a Tart and the Shark of the Abyss
The Strange Christmas Dream
Once upon a time Pallino who had a friend named Gelsomino, a sister named Asietta and a little brother named Vincenzino.
One day Pallino awoke with a start, frightened by a strange dream he had. In that dream, he watched the snow fall down out the window and he desired to be there happy to play with his schoolmates. But this was not possible because the snow falls on Christmas and during the holiday season people are all with their families.
Then, as he was dreaming he decided to go out alone and make a nice snowman called Pasqualino Freddolino. At that moment he had the great idea to put on Pasqualino his nice warm scarf that his mother had bought him. Then he took a carrot from the vegetable drawer, without saying anything to anyone, and used it to make the nose.
At one point Pallino saw Asietta and wondered:
“But what does my sister do in my dream? Will she want to eat my snack?
Asietta came and said:
“Hello, Pallino. How are you?” You know that tomorrow is Christmas and my mother cooked lasagna?
“Sure Asietta and I cannot wait to eat them. Ehehehehehe.”
When Asietta saw the Snowman that Pallino made, said that She would name it Donato. But Pallino had already called it Pasqualino and so they began to quarrel. At the end, they made peace and Pasqualino was able to keep its name.
But in the dream Pallino saw darting a sled at full speed, with Vincenzino on it that was shouting:
Vincenzino had received as a gift the sledding snow from his Dad. He sat down on it and left without knowing how to drive it. So he threw down the street going downhill at full speed. Pallino saw him and said:
“Vincenzino, use the Brake! Slow down! Slow down!
Unfortunately, besides not feeling the screams of Pallino, Vincenzino was not even able to use the brake.
At the end, Vincenzino jumped and ended up falling straight on the belly of Pasqualino, which lost its carrot nose and the scarf of Pallino.
The scarf flew on a pole and carrot went to hit the nose of Pallino.
After all this hustle, Vincenzino was stuck with his head inside Pasqualino. Pallino had fallen face down on the ground with the red nose because of the carrot shot. Instead, Asietta stood there and laughed uncontrollably:
“Ahahahahahahahhah! Ahahahahahahhahaahha! Ahahahahahahahaha!”
At that point, Pallino woke up from the dream and with a strange face he looked around, made a big yawn and said:
“Where am I ?! But what happened? Oh well, I’m going back to sleep. Bye.”
But the alarm sounded shortly afterward. and it was the time to get up to go to school. It was a Tuesday. But it was not a Tuesday like any other. But Pallino, at that moment, stunned by the dream, did not realize. That Tuesday was the day before Christmas.
Asietta was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus who would come down from the chimney that night.
Christmas Gifts and the Chocolate Tart of Gelsomino
Pallino finally decided to get up and have a breakfast with some delicious pan of stars cookies. He remembered that he had not yet bought a gift for Asietta. Then he asked for money to his mother.
“Pallino, do not spend too much.”
Pallino went out and went to meet Gelsomino for advice about a gift. While he was there, he tells his strange dream to the friend who told him:
“Go to buy a necklace to Asietta and to Vincenzino a Shark of Abyss with Strawberry flavor.”
Besides, Gelsomino gave to Pallino a nice freshly baked Chocolate Tart to take home for the children.
As for the dream, Gelsomino simply said:
“Pallino, stop watching Christmas movies on TV before going to sleep because they give you own a strange effect. Got it?”
And they both laughed:
When Pallino went back to home, he puts the presents under the tree and gave the tart to his mother.
The Christmas War between Asietta and Vincenzino
In the meanwhile, Asietta and Vincenzino had been awakened and ran for the house singing and shouting. As long as at some point they began to quarrel bad: Asietta was screaming and Vincenzino was punching and pulled her hairs. So, they began both to weep as desperate.
At that point came the mother who took Vincenzino for his trousers and lifted his in the air, holding it with one hand. Then she took Asietta with the other hand and sent her in the other room.
Vincenzino did the brat, and so for him nothing tart until evening. For Asietta however, no TV until the next day.
“Got it?” Mom said.
The mother had to work hard that day and did not want trouble. She was cooking a delicious meatloaf to eat for Christmas Eve dinner and lasagna for Christmas Day.
After a couple of hours Vincenzino asked for a piece of pie and mom said:
“I give the pie only if you eat it together with Asietta.”
So the two children sat at the table and both had a delicious slice of the chocolate tart who ate happily, thanking the mom and Gelsomino.
The children were happy, Mom was happy and everyone was preparing himself for the arrival of Santa Claus.
The arrival of Uncle Girolamo for the Christmas Dinner
The dinner time has arrived and everyone was sitting at the table. There was also Gelsomino who meanwhile had brought a beautiful Sponge cake pie, just out of the oven, with delicious creams dripping happiness.
There was Pallino really happy for the beautiful set table and mom a little tired but happy to be with the children.
At one point, the doorbell rang. Mom opened the door and it was the Uncle Girolamo, who had come from afar bringing a little thought for everyone, from the various places where he had been.
Uncle Girolamo was so glad to see her nephew Asietta that when he saw her almost cried of happiness.
Then they all sat down at the table and spent a wonderful evening, waiting for Santa Claus, happily.
